Over the Bed / Sofa Wall Art
This collection exists to solve one specific measuring problem, the piece of art that hangs above a bed or a sofa, where almost every mistake in home decorating happens.
The proportions are worth committing to memory. The artwork should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. The base of the frame should sit 15 to 25 cm above the backrest or headboard, close enough that the two read as a single block. And it should be centred on the furniture, not on the wall, if the two differ.
In practice that gives a short list. A two-seat sofa or a single bed takes 12x36 or 14x42 inches. A standard three-seat sofa or a double bed takes 16x48 or 20x60. A large sectional or a king bed takes 24x72. Those sizes are exactly why we cut in a panoramic ratio.
The artwork here is chosen for the position too: horizontal compositions with a calm centre, nothing so detailed that it demands close inspection from a sofa you sit on rather than stand in front of.
Cotton canvas, Greenguard Gold certified non-toxic inks, hand-stretched over FSC-certified pine, gallery wrap or a floating frame in black, white, dark wood or white wood.
