Japanese Wall Art
Japanese art has been panoramic for centuries. Byobu folding screens are wide by design, emakimono handscrolls unroll horizontally, and kakemono hanging scrolls are tall and narrow. Our two signature formats are not a modern crop of this tradition, they are the shape it was always made in.
That heritage runs through the collection. Cranes and egrets against gold and cream grounds. Sumi-e ink brushwork, where one black stroke carries the whole canvas. Ukiyo-e influenced waves and Fuji views. Cherry blossom and bamboo studies. Contemporary Japandi minimalism in oat, clay and charcoal.
What holds them together is ma, the use of empty space as an active element rather than leftover background. It is why these pieces calm a wall instead of filling it, and why they work in small rooms where a dense composition would crowd.
Practically, they are among the most adaptable things we sell. The palettes, ink black, gold, cream, soft grey, sit with almost any furniture, and a dark wood floating frame echoes the traditional scroll edge closely.
Made on cotton canvas with non-toxic, fade-resistant inks, hand-stretched over sustainable FSC-certified pine. Eight sizes to 24x72 inches, in a 1.25-inch gallery wrap or a floating frame, hardware already fitted.
